dubitanda (ever in doubt)

kisses ⋮ tears

do kisses blacken tears

Δουκίσσης Πλακεντίας
(Doukíssis Plakentías)

A phonetic translation of sorts.

“Do kisses blacken tears” refers to the Duchess of Plaisance (Sophie de Marbois-Lebrun, 1785–1854) and is also an Athens metro station (built on land once hers) that took her name.

The images show (a) the sign at said station and (b) the actress Elli Afentaki performing as the French socialite in a 1916 play of her life.
